- Music has been pumping through her veins since birth.  At the early age of eight, DJ Karamel made her first mixtapes with a radio and two cassette players. As years progressed she kept her dreams alive and always said she would be a Disc Jockey/Radio personality. DJ Karamel enrolled into an after school program at the early age of 13 and she began learning analog and digital recording. Youth Radio trained her in ProTools, Analog & Reel to Reel recording and editing. Karamel was able to get on the air at Berkeley’s own radio station KPFB. All through high school she was able to play records that were not getting any rotation on the main radio stations in the Bay Area. (YouthRadio:www.myspace.com/youthincontrol)   This landed her an internship at the Bay Area’s hottest Hip Hop & R&B radio station, 106.1 KMEL!

Through her deligent work at KMEL she was asked to become one of the station on air voice over talent.  In 2000  Karamel attended San Jose State, majoring in Radio Television Broadcasting & Film, and began working on air at KMEL from 2am - 6am every Sun -Fri.  Later that year she was asked by KMEL’s Legendary Rick Lee to start working with the SBC DJS.  From here Karamel started spinning at various clubs around the Bay Area as well as mobile gigs, such as high schools, weddings, and private/corporate parties.  After creating a name for herself in the Bay Area, she began to drop a series of mixtapes.  By 2004 she had released three different series of mixtapes that had such a buzz that artists wanted her to mix and host their next mixtape.  Karamel’s buzz began to move outside of the BAY when her presence was requested in various cities throughout the country.  She has been blessed to mix in Las Vegas, New York, LA, Miami, Boston, Phoenix, and Atlanta.  DJ Karamel has held down the BAY AREA Movement from the beginning and has continued to push artists in the right direction. DJing & hosting a few of the best Bay Area Showcases made available for artists to get their music heard, she was able to gain the respect from the BAY AREA music scene.  She recently was on the New Jack Swing Tour that included Legendary R&B groups such as; New Edition, Blackstreet, Guy, After 7, KC & JoJo, as well as DJing as an actual band member of the group, Tony Toni Ton’e.  Currently you can find Karamel In Da Streets of all the markets that are pushing quality music.  She is currently  traveling coast to coast and overseas to rock clubs all over the world.
